Technology plays a vital role in supporting our students’ education, and this agreement outlines the expectations for using school-provided and personal devices, as well as accessing online services.

The Technology Agreement ensures that all students, parents, and staff understand their responsibilities when using technology at school. By working together, we can create a positive and productive digital learning experience for everyone.


What Is the Technology Agreement?

The Technology Agreement is a document that sets out the rules and responsibilities for using devices and online services at school.

  • Promotes safe and respectful online behaviour.
  • Explains the consequences of misuse of technology.
  • Provides guidance on protecting privacy and data security.

It applies to all students, staff, and parents involved in the use of technology at Southport State High School.

Key Highlights of the Agreement

Before downloading the full agreement, here are some key points to be aware of:

Device Usage:

  • Students must bring their devices to school fully charged and ready for use.
  • Devices are to be used for educational purposes only during class time.
  • Students are responsible for the care and security of their devices.

Online Services:

  • Students will have access to platforms such as QLearn, Microsoft 365, and other approved educational tools.
  • Parental consent is required for students to use third-party online services.

Cyber Safety:

  • Students must follow the principles of good digital citizenship, including respecting others online and keeping personal information private.
  • Any inappropriate or unsafe online behaviour must be reported to a teacher or staff member immediately.

Privacy and Security:

  • The school takes privacy seriously and complies with Queensland’s privacy laws.
  • Students are expected to use strong passwords and avoid sharing personal information online.

Consequences of Misuse:

  • Misuse of technology may result in disciplinary action, including loss of device privileges or other consequences as outlined in the agreement.

Parents and students are required to acknowledge and agree to the terms of the Technology Agreement. Please ensure that the Acknowledgement Form is signed and returned to the school. If you have not yet completed this step, please contact the school office for assistance.
