Student medication

Education Queensland does not allow staff to administer ANY medication which has not been prescribed by a doctor. This includes over the counter medication.

All medication needs to be in the original package with an original pharmacy label showing the child’s name, dosage, time to be taken and medical practitioner’s name.

If a doctor has not prescribed the medication, for example panadol, a letter from a doctor is required to accompany the labelled medication.

You may use this “request to administer medication at school” form to grant permission to school staff to administer medication. This form is to be completed and returned by you, together with the medication, before staff are able to administer any medication.
