Creative Generations - State Schools on Stage
Each year, the most talented dancers, singers and musicians from Queensland state schools come together to stage one of the state's largest performing arts events.
Creative Generation - State Schools on Stage aims to mentor and foster the next generation of performers and provides opportunities for them to work with and learn from professional artists. This annual entertainment event has launched the professional careers of many students who have gone on to star in theatre, television and musical productions.
Every second year, Dance students from Southport State High School’s prestigious Creative Arts Excellence Program nominate and audition for Creative Generation. Those students who are successful in their application for Creative Generation and each week travel to Brisbane on Saturday and Sunday to attend a heavy rehearsal schedule. Senior dance students are regularly selected for the featured dance items. The show features:
a 600-voice choir
the student James Morrison Creative Generation Big Band
a 65-piece student symphony orchestra
up to 600 dancers
and over 30 featured vocalists
Audiences are wowed by the dazzling display of some of the best young performing artists from Queensland state schools, spectacular special effects and performances by CGEN professional artists and mentors including world-renowned jazz musicians and James Morrison. Tickets are available for the show in July via the Ticketek website.
