Subject selection is an important part of managing your educational experience at Southport State High Independent Public School. It is recommended that parents and students review subject choices together to ensure future study and employment pathways remain flexible and relevant.
In all year levels students study six subjects.
In junior year levels there are four core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science and SOSE) combined with four electives, two per semester.
In senior year levels (10, 11 & 12) there are two core subjects (English and Mathematics) combined with a choice of electives to make up a total of six subjects. Studying a Science and a Humanities subject is compulsory each semester.
To the right hand side you will find a link to our Subject Selection Booklets. Students have the opportunity to choose from subjects listed in these booklets, dependent on availability. Subject selection will take place in consultation with the
International Student Coordinator prior to commencement at the school.
