Ensemble

Students studying a musical instrument are required to participate in an ensemble. Ensembles are offered from beginner to advanced and offer a variety of styles.
 
The following Ensembles are available for students to join:
 

Jazz Band – 3.15pm - 4.15pm Monday

New to the school in 2015, this is a beginner Jazz Band for students who are still in the early stages of learning their instrument. This is a group for students who would like to be extended on their instrument and enjoy the chance to play a wider variety of music including popular and swing styles.
 

Saxophone Ensemble

New to the school in 2016, this is a chamber group for students who play Saxophone. This is a group for students who would like to be extended on their instrument and enjoy the chance to play a wider variety of music including popular and swing styles.
 

Stage Band – 7.45am – 8.45am Monday

Students playing alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drumkit, piano, guitar and electric bass can join the Stage Band, which plays a variety of swing, rock, modern day and Latin styles.
 

Wind Ensemble – 7.45am – 8.45am Tuesday

This will be another choice for those learning woodwind, brass and percussion. New to the school in 2015 due to the growth in our program, this is our beginner Concert Band. This is a band for students wanting to experience the concert band ensemble but are still learning their instrument.
 

Percussion Ensemble – 3.15pm - 4.15pm Tuesday

New to the school in 2016, this is a chamber group for students who play a percussion instrument. This is a group for students who would like to be extended on their instrument and enjoy the chance to play a wider variety of music.
 

Concert Band – 3.15pm – 4.15pm Wednesday

Students studying woodwind, brass and percussion instruments can join a concert band that suits their ability level. This is the group playing the most senior music in this format.
 

Junior Symphony – 3.15pm – 4.15pm Wednesday

Students who are successful in auditioning for the Instrumental Music Excellence Program on a concert band instrument will be a part of this band. They will have bi-weekly rehearsals (1 in class and 1 at this time) and small group lessons as well as a classroom music lesson. They will, through double rehearsals, be extended learning music well above their age group.
 

String Ensemble – 7.45am – 8.45am Thursday

All students studying a string instrument including violin, viola, cello and double bass can join this ensemble. String ensemble is a chance for string players to work collegially in a group extended themselves beyond their lessons.
 

String Quartet – Lunch Time Thursday

This chamber ensemble is an opportunity for students to extend their performance skills as a string player. The group has a very busy schedule, presenting a wide variety of musical styles at a number of events throughout the school year.
 

Choir – 7.45am Friday

Newly formed in 2014, the choir is auditioned by attendance – those who show up are welcome. Any student that enjoys to sing is welcome to join the choir. This group sings a wide variety of repertoire! The Choir is a great opportunity for students to find their voice in a safe and fun environment. In addition, we welcome all those who think they can’t sing to come learn how.
