Subject selection is an important part of managing your educational future. It is recommended that parents and students review subject choices together to ensure future study and employment pathways remain flexible and relevant.
In all year levels students study six subjects which range in duration from one semester (six months) in junior school up to four semesters in senior school. Some senior students may study less than six subjects if they are undertaking a traineeship or other approved program.
In Junior Secondary (7, 8 & 9) there are four core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science and SOSE) combined with a number of electives: six electives in Year 7 and 8 (three per semester), four electives in Year 9 (two per semester). Year 7, 8 and 9 students must all choose at least one Health & Physical Education elective. Year 7 and 8 will complete 7 subjects in each semester, with Year 9 studying six each semester.
In Senior Secondary (10, 11 & 12) students are required to complete two core subjects (English and Mathematics). In Year 10, students will complete History and Science as core subjects, leaving two electives that students will study for the whole year. Year 11 and 12 students will choose from four electives that direct them on their career pathway. This makes up a total of six subjects for all Senior Secondary students.

It's your first time using OneSchool
You may be presented with a screen asking you to agree with the terms and conditions. Read the page and click the "Accept" button, then the OneSchool home page will open.
My Education Plan
Click on the My Education Plan tab. The first time you click on this tab you will be asked to choose a subject selection model. Click on the link and choose the year level model from the next window and press "save".
An additional section will appear on the page with the heading "Subject Selections - Line" with an "Edit" button just below. Click on this button. You can then proceed with choosing subjects based on instructions in the letter that was sent home and with the help of the online subject selection booklets.
Selecting preferences (going into years 7 & 8)
You will be asked to choose one subject option from each of the seven lines (some lines only have one option) and two preferences. Preferences are to assist with placing you in your preferred classes. If your selected electives are not available your preferences are used to allocate your seven subjects. Choose preferences by viewing the drop-down list and selecting a subject. Press "Add New" to add this subject to your list of preferences. Repeat for as many times as indicated in the preferences section.

Finalising subject selection
Once you've chosen subjects on the six lines and the required number of preferences, press the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. Your choices are saved and will appear on the same page once it reloads. A small label should also appear near the top of the page saying "Update successful".
If there are any errors in your subject choices or some selections have not been completed, appropriate messages will be shown near the top of the page highlighting what needs to be done to successfully complete the process. Correct the errors and then press save.
