Physics Excursion

Year 11 Physics Dreamworld Excursion

Recently the Year 11 Physics class visited Dreamworld as part of their Amusement Park Physics Extended Experimental Investigation task. Students experienced what a range of G’s feels like on the human body by braving rides such as the Tower of Terror, Giant Drop, Cyclone and the Claw.

They used PASCO digital data logging equipment to obtain actual ride data from selected rides for further analysis and modification using No-Limits roller coaster design software.
All students had an exciting and informative experience and were able to gain a further appreciation of how Physics and Engineering theories can be used to create rides with exceptional thrills and excitement.
I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Sue McLauchlan for her invaluable assistance on the day and to all the Year 11 Physics students for their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm.
