Art News - EXPO

It is that time of year again where our art students become artists and display their creative genius in an exhibition setting. This allows students to better understand the nature of the ‘real’ art world and the issues related to public exhibition.
This year we have over 60 students exhibiting more than 100 works which include a variety of drawings, paintings, printmaking images, sculptures, furniture design, installations and wearable art.
The Expo will take place in the Enterprise Centre on Brooke Avenue, opening at 6pm on Tuesday 23rd October. Entry is by a gold coin donation and this includes the viewing of all art works, refreshments and entertainment. There will also be a drawing corner this year where children, students and indeed adults, can sit and create their own masterpiece to take home.
We have a fantastic raffle going in conjunction with the Art Expo. Tickets can be purchased during lunch breaks outside the tuckshop at school or on the night of the art expo. The raffle includes a huge $200 worth of art equipment and will be drawn at the Art Expo.
We look forward to seeing you all at 6pm Tuesday 23rd October when you can take a look at the work of our talented artists and immerse yourself in an evening of creativity. As Thomas Merton said; ‘Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.’
