GOLD COAST SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE 2011
On Thursday 5th May, our talented Year 10 Physics students competed in the Gold Coast Science and Engineering Challenge held at the Queensland Academy for Health Sciences. This year, a number of schools from the Gold Coast region competed over 2 days for a place in the state-wide Super Challenge. Activities ranged from designing and building a hovercraft, bridge, golf buggy and a catapult, to solving a myriad of mind-bending puzzles.
Our students worked exceptionally well together as a team, winning two of the six challenges, being the catapult design and testing and the electricity power distribution system, and achieving third place in the golf buggy challenge. Overall, our students achieved 5th place on their day of competition.
Congratulations to all students who competed and special thanks to Mrs Kelly Wastell for her invaluable assistance on Challenge day.
