Library and Information Centre

The library aims to meet the information and recreational needs of students and teachers in friendly, helpful way.

Staff

The three friendly, helpful library staff members are the teacher-librarian, Ms Priem and two library assistants, Ms Byrne and Ms Cooper.

Opening times

We are open from 8am until 3pm each day but closed on Fridays at morning tea.

Resources

We have a variety of resources including:

  • 16 computers;
  • books;
  • magazines;
  • daily newspapers;
  • a photocopier for student use; and
  • a colour printer for 2007.

What you can borrow

If you would like to borrow books, bring them to the front desk with your ID card. Forgotten your card? You can still borrow. Just ask us!

Senior students — 4 information books and 1 novel.

Junior students — 2 information books and 1 novel.

Activities

The library offers areas to research, read, view and work on assignments.

Whole classes

If your class is booked into the library, check the sheet posted on the entrance door.

Individual and small groups

Individual and small groups of students are welcome to use the library if there is space. You need to bring a signed note from your teacher and your task sheet.

Senior students on spare

Senior students on a spare may use the library if there is space. Please show your orange card and sign in.

Year 8, 9 and 10 students can be in the library while 8am senior classes are on but the classes have first priority, particularly with computers.

Lunchtime activities

The library offers some lunchtime activities such as chess, computer games, and movies. These are advertised through student notices.

Student co-operation

The library is shared learning space so we expect and encourage you to:

  • Leave your bag outside with your valuables removed;
  • Wait outside for your teacher (senior students excepted);
  • Put away mobile phones and music players;
  • Place chairs in and bin rubbish; and
  • Be friendly and respectful

The RTC process is in place the library.

Student ideas

If you have ideas how to make the library more appealing or requests for books to buy, talk to Ms Priem.
