Desgin & Technology Faculty
Design and Technology is a project based form of education where students can...
- Complete class projects incorporating different materials (timber, metal and plastic)
- Complete associated theory booklets which include basic "Basic Education" and "Manufacturing" information
- Receive relevant work shop safety information and awareness
Assessment is done through class work, technology notes and a technology test. Material costs are an inclusive part of normal school fees so no additional money is required. For Year 8 students: the same course will be offered in both semester 1 and 2 so Design and Technology can only be one 6 month unit.

Certificate 1 in Engineering (MEM)
This is a Vocational Education course which is designed to prepare students for a range of Engineering trade careers. These include trades in Sheet Metal, Mechanics, Boat Building, Welding, Fitter and Machinist.
Certificate 1 in Furnishing (LMF)
This is a Vocational Education course which is designed to prepare students for a range of trade careers including Carpentary, Cabinetmaking and Furnishing.
Technology Studies (TST)
This subject is an introduction to the Senior Technology Studies course. It is a theory based course where students design projects and then write up a series of design folios. Students will learn how to use the CNC Milling machine to manufacture some projects. Ideally, students will have a Sound Achievement in Mathematics and English.
Graphics (GRH)
The Graphics "contextual Units" program is based around four Industry/Career areas.
- Foundation Studies - the development of Computer Aided Drafting.
- Product Design - the development of basic design education and graphical communication in engineering and technical industry areas. CNC design.
- Business Graphics - the development of processes used to illustrate basic statistical data and teh presentation of basic business concepts.
- Built Environment - the basic study of home and where we live. Also, the forms of housing construction.
